Down syndrome (DS) is the most common genetic cause of intellectual impairment in the world, with speech and literacy as the most affected areas. Literacy skills acquisition thus requires special care. It is still rare to use software to support such care while, at the same time, providing education and fun for children. This paper presents the results of research to elicit and validate requirements of gamified software applications that support the processes of language acquisition and literacy, making them fun, motivating and effective for children with DS.
