This paper presents an embedded system called Braille Converter that allows tactile reading in Braille. The device consists of a software that implements a technique for representing letters of the alphabet in Braille and also by a hardware that includes the Arduino prototyping platform and micro servos that were the basis for the design of the Braille cell. To validate the techniques used were carried out tests involving visually impaired users and expert users in the Braille system. The tests show satisfactory results in terms of effectiveness, usability and accessibility. As main contribution of this work is the provision of an alternative computational resource that allows the individual visually impaired to use a tactile perceptive reading system as a way to grasp the knowledge.
